JATC CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM

FOR NEW YORK STATE MECHANIC LICENSING

(a New York State Department of Laborapproved Elevator Training Course Provider)

​All New York State licensed mechanics must complete 8 hours of continuing education each year 

for Elevator Mechanic License renewal to be granted.

Per NYSDOL, You must wait minimum 11 months until you can attend 2nd eight hour class. "After their first license renewals, students are expected to abide by DOL’s rule to take their continuing education classes every 11-12 monthsfrom the date of their renewal.

For example, if a student has been issued their renewal on December 15, 2025, they must take their  first elevator continuing education class between November 15, 2026, and December 15, 2026.   The second elevator continuing education class must be taken between November 15, 2027, and December 15, 2027, BEFORE  they apply for their license renewal.  DOL will not be sending out training or licensing reminders to the students, so it is their responsibility to track their classes and licenses."

**Members are responsible to ensure their own compliance. If you are denied renewal by NYSDOL based on the dates of your certificates, you will need to attend classes to be issued a new certificates.**

The JATC is offering the required courses to meet the renewal requirements for NYS licensing. Participants must...

• Be in good standing with Local Union #3, EE Division. (No Retirees) 
  
• Submit your official JUN 2026 Local #3 Union Card or valid yellow receipt.
  
• Dec 2025 Local Union #3 Card not valid.
  
• Have been previously issued a NYS Mechanic License.

2025-2026 Class Dates: 

An eight (8) hour class to be held on a Saturday. You can choose a first and second choice from available dates. All three required courses will be covered during one Saturday Session.

• Saturday, July 26th. Class over.
  
• Saturday, Aug 2nd.Class over.
  
• Saturday, Aug 9th. Class over.
  
• Saturday, Aug 16th. Class over.
  
• Saturday, Sept 13th. Class over.
  
• Saturday, Sept 27th.Class over.
  
• Saturday, October 4th. - Class over.
  
• Saturday, October 11th. Class over
  
• ​Saturday, October 25th. -Class over.
  
• Saturday, November 8th.- Class over.
  
• Saturday, November 22nd. - Class over.
• ​Saturday, December 6th. Class over.
  
• Saturday, December 13th. Class over.
  
• Saturday, January 24, 2026. (limited seats remain)
  
• Saturday, February 7, 2026.

**Class Information**​

• Classes are held at the Electrical Industry Training Center, 48-40 34th St., LIC NY 11101. Class is from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. There will be a 30 minute lunch break. Any member arriving past 7:15am will not be admitted.
  
• No member may have early dismissal. 
• Adherence to class times will be strictly followed.
• All attendees will be issued a "Certificate of Completion" sent via US Mail.
